Questions
Common questions
The things patients ask us most, including why Juno and why now.
Who is Juno for?
We see patients referred by a GP or specialist for hormone health, diabetes, liver and gut health, or women’s health. We also offer Allied Health services like dietetics, exercise physiology and physiotherapy.
What programs do you offer?
We offer two groups of specialist-led programs. Women’s health: menopause and perimenopause, preconception and fertility, and polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS, previously PCOS). Whole body health: Total Health, Diabetes Reset and Metabolica for liver health. You can also book a private appointment without joining a program.
Why do you say PMOS and PCOS?
In 2026, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS). The new name better reflects the hormone and metabolic changes involved, as most people who have it do not have cysts on their ovaries. Both names mean the same condition. We use PMOS and keep PCOS alongside it, so it stays easy to find while people get used to the change.
Does Juno only provide women’s health care?
No. Alongside women’s health, we help with weight, blood sugar and heart health through programs like Total Health, Diabetes Reset, and Metabolica. You can also book private appointments on their own.
Do I need a referral?
Yes, for our specialist and program care. You’ll need a referral from a GP or another specialist before your first appointment. You can send the referral to us at [email protected].
What does a program cost?
Our program costs are set out in detail on our costs page.
When are fees payable?
Fees are payable before your appointment. For Juno’s programs – an onboarding fee of $99 is payable before your initial appointment. Where further fees are due for the program, those are payable after the initial appointment.
What is a GP Care Plan?
It’s a plan your GP can prepare that gives you Medicare-subsidised Allied Health appointments, such as dietitian and exercise physiology. When your Care Plan includes the allied health items in your Juno program, it reduces the cost of your program. Your GP can tell you whether you’re eligible and how many Medicare subsidised Allied Health appointments you have available.
How do I get a Care Plan?
Let your GP know you have been referred to Juno Healthcare and that you would like to obtain a Care Plan so you can access subsidised sessions with our Allied Health clinicians. Your GP will assess your eligibility and, if appropriate, prepare the Care Plan for you. When booking your GP appointment, let the reception know you’d like to discuss a Care Plan, so they can book the right type of appointment for you.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is a 45-minute session with a specialist. They’ll ask about your health history, what matters to you, and your options going forward. If you’re considering one of our programs, they’ll recommend which one suits you. After the appointment, it’s your decision whether to go ahead. There’s no pressure to start until you’re ready.
How soon can I start?
Most patients have their first appointment within 1–2 weeks of their referral reaching us. Starting sooner means we can start addressing your symptoms sooner, so you feel more like yourself again.
Can I book just one appointment instead of a program?
Yes. Private appointments — endocrinology and gastroenterology rapid-access consults, dietitian, physiotherapy, naturopathy and FibroScan can all be booked on their own when you want one opinion rather than a full program. More information about our private appointments is available on our Services page.
What makes this different from seeing a dietitian or physio separately?
The difference is coordination. Your endocrinologist, dietitian and physiotherapist all work from the same plan and meet regularly to review your progress together. Instead of separate advice from each practitioner, you get one connected plan built around you.
What happens after the program ends?
Our programs are designed to give you lasting skills and habits for managing your health. We’ll discuss your ongoing care options with you at your final appointment. Some patients return to GP-managed care, others choose to continue with Juno services.
What is a FibroScan?
A quick, non-invasive, ultrasound-like scan that checks your liver health in about 10 minutes, with no needles and no radiation. It measures liver stiffness and fat.
Will my GP know what’s happening?
Yes. Juno works in partnership with your GP, not instead of them. We send clinical updates back to your GP, and you keep seeing them as usual. Think of Juno as the specialist layer of your Care Team.
Are your programs delivered by telehealth?
Yes. We’re based in Victoria and provide Telehealth care Australia-wide, so you can join most program appointments from home wherever you live. For services like our Metabolica program and liver health scans, we also welcome you in person at our Rowville clinic.
How do I join a video appointment?
You will receive a link to join each video consultation via SMS, sent to your mobile number approximately 15 minutes before each appointment time. There is no need to download anything.
Is it just video calls? Will that actually help?
Telehealth works well for the types of appointments our programs involve, and it means you can access specialist care without long travel or wait times. Our clinicians are experienced telehealth practitioners. If you prefer an in-person consultation, let our team know and we can discuss available options.
Can I bring a support person?
Yes, always. A family member, friend or carer is welcome to join any appointment, in person or on a telehealth call. You don’t need to tell us in advance.
What if I need to change my appointment?
To reschedule call 1300 414 251 (Mon-Fri 9.00am to 6pm) or email [email protected]. Please let us know at least 2 business days in advance if you cannot attend your appointment to avoid a $50 cancellation fee.
What if I miss an appointment?
A $50 fee applies if you miss an appointment. If something comes up, call us on 1300 414 251 (Mon-Fri 9.00am to 6pm) or email [email protected] as soon as you can so we can reschedule and help you stay on track with your care.
Can I change my mind or stop partway through?
Yes. This is your care. You can pause, change your plan, or stop at any time. Just let your care team know.
Is my information private?
Yes. We follow Australian privacy law to keep your information safe. Your details are only shared with your Juno Care Team and your referring GP, so everyone involved in your care has what they need.
